Audit Services in Times of War: Lecture on Ukraine’s Experience Held within the “Ukrainian Voices: Academic Freedom in a Changing World” Series of the Erasmus+ Project “Promoting Academic Freedom in Ukraine”

On 18 June 2025, a guest lecture within the series “Ukrainian Voices: Academic Freedom in
a Changing World” was held online as part of the Erasmus+ project “Promoting Academic
Freedom in Ukraine” (FreeAc, ID 2023-1-AT01-KA220-HED-000164930). The event was
co-hosted by the University of Poznań (Poland) and the University of Graz (Austria) and
bringing together over 25 participants from various European institutions.

The lecture, entitled “Issues and Ways to Ensure Sustainable Development of Audit Services
in Martial Law: The Experience of Ukraine”, was delivered by Dr. Olena Antoniuk, Professor
at the Department of Accounting and Audit, National University of Water and Environmental
Engineering (Rivne, Ukraine).

 

 

Prof. Antoniuk provided an in-depth analysis of the functioning and evolution of audit
services in Ukraine under martial law conditions. Her presentation addressed pressing
challenges faced by the auditing profession, recent regulatory developments, the role of
professional organisations, and the importance of international cooperation in sustaining
auditing practices during wartime.
The “Ukrainian Voices” lecture series aims to enhance the visibility of Ukrainian academic
work in the European research landscape, promote international scholarly exchange, and
uphold the principles of academic freedom in the context of armed conflict.
