On May 7, 2025, the Promoting Academic Freedom in Ukraine (FreeAc) project was presented during an event organized by the ETC Center at the University of Graz. The event featured a screening of the documentary “Refugee Girls”, followed by a discussion as part of an Arqus ad hoc bottom-up initiative focused on supporting the integration of refugees at Arqus Alliance universities.
Following the film, Lisa Heschl from the UNI-ETC enriched the discussion by sharing her experiences as the coordinator of the FreeAc project, which addresses the impact of the Russian aggression on the university landscape in Ukraine. Her insights, combined with background provided by the film’s director, made the evening a deeply moving yet inspiring experience, shedding light on the specific challenges faced by student refugees.
